Sell or Setup Shop

When I told my wife that I was going to purchase and restore a classic Mustang we were sitting enjoying dinner. She said “really, that’s great where you plan on doing the work?”

I responded by saying, “we are going to have to sell the house; I need a shop, a small house and shop on a piece of land would be ideal so we need to sell the house.

The response from my comments was taken as insanity; both my wife and daughter said “are you crazy, we’re not selling the house” . The thought of moving into a shack with a nice shop wasn't

Well that didn’t go over very well, so I went out to the garage to think about it. The garage was a mess; we parked both our cars in there and used the rest of it for storage. It was a three car garage with plenty of room to do my project, so I went back inside with a compromise. Instead of selling the house I will set up shop in the garage, but everything in there has to go to a storage unit and the cars are no longer to be parked in there.

I was still met with a little reservation from the wife since I was pretty much saying “all activities in the garage will seize unless those activities are coordinated by me”; but it was a better alternative to selling the house. Once all of the animosity over the garage takeover was cleared I started making my plans for the conversion from garage to workshop.
