2. Mustang Disassembly

Engine Compartment

Now that the engine and transmission have been removed from Project Playboy the disassembly continues within the engine compartment to remove a few remaining pieces before moving onto the the wiring.

There are a few components that need to be removed before I can take out the wiring. This includes stripping the bolt on items that would otherwise be difficult to get to with the engine in the Mustang.

Remove the starter solenoid, window washer bag and lines

Remove the motor mount brackets

Remove the master cylinder and unbolt a few items

Random_01 003Remove the master cylinder and remove the attaching hardware from these items:
 

  • Random_01 012 Steering Column
  • Pedal support
  • accelerator pedal
  • emergency brake assembly
  • and heater box

 

 

 

Random_01 017Prep the headlamp harness for removal.

Remove all of the wire harness clips from the head light harness feed the headlamp harness back through the holes in the fender aprons. I will disconnect this harness when I move onto removing the wringing.

To remove the wire harness straps use a 1/4 inch socket to push them out of the holes

    i am trying to put in an accelerator pedal rod gromitt and i cant figure out how to remove the gas pedal. any suggestions? i have a 67 if that matters at all

    jpreedy,

    To remove the gas pedal.. there is a set/pivot screw that hold the pedal to the accelerator rod, there is also a tension/pivot spring on there. Remove the set screw and spring and then you should be able to slide the grommet into place, then reinstall the spring and screw.
